A ground surface access assembly 110, the assembly 110 including a frame 12 defining an opening 16, a cover 14 which is locatable in the opening 16, and a contact arrangement 40. In an assembled condition, the contact arrangement 40 locates between the cover 14 and the frame 12. Optionally, the contact arrangement 40 includes one or more pairs of oppositely facing contact seating surfaces 26A, 26B, where one of the surfaces 26B contacts the cover 14 and the other surface 26A contacts the frame 12. Optionally, the contact arrangement 40 features at least one contact member 40. Optionally, the contact member 40 can be made out of a hard, resiliently deformable material such as a metal or steel. Optionally, the contact member 40 is movable between a mounted condition and a demounted condition. Optionally, there can be a plurality of contact members 40.
