A low hazard roman blind which can easily be fitted and cut to width has a shade 1 with upper and lower edge portions and a shade support tube 10 secured to the upper edge portion. Guides 9 are secured to the rear of the shade in spaced positions between the upper and lower edge portions and at least one lifting strip 7 passes through the guides. The lifting 7 strips are preferably of crumple-resistant film. The upper ends of the lifting strips are secured to a roller 11, and a winding unit 12 is drivably engaged with a first end of the roller, with a wand 13 to rotate the roller. The shade support tube 10 and the roller 11 releasably engage a pair of mounting brackets 14 and the engagement may be spring-loaded. The guides 9 may be provided with spring clips to engage about a stiffening rod 4 so that they can be adjusted across the width of the blind. The bottom ends of the lifting strip may be anchored to the lowermost guides 9 by means of bottom end grips.
