Power system vehicle doors
A power system for opening and closing vertically-hinged doors of vehicles including a user interface 106 for receiving instructions, at least one sensor 104 118 for measuring a vehicle parameter; for example the orientation of the vehicle, the inclination - roll or pitch axis (when the vehicle is parked on a slope or hill), the external temperature or the velocity of the vehicle; an actuator for applying a force or torque to the door and control means for controlling the amount of force or torque delivered by the actuator dependent on the vehicle parameter, for example decreasing the force when the door will swing under gravity. The system can open the door at a desired velocity regardless of angle of slope. An obstacle and contact sensor may also be included in the door. Also defined is a method of opening/closing a door, a controller for implementing the method and a door or vehicle with the power system.
