A secure mounting for a panel (e.g. a glass or metal panel) comprises a body (10, 14) and clamping 20 and support 21 members extending from the body 10, 14 in parallel spaced relation and having respective clamping and support contact surfaces 22, 23 to define a channel between the surfaces 26. The channel 26 has a width dimensioned to receive an edge of a panel in use. The clamping member 20 includes a guideway opening into the channel. A driving block 19 is located in the guideway and a wedge 18 is located in the guideway. The driving block 19 is connected to the clamping member 20 by a threaded member 11. The driving block 19 has an inclined driving surface and the wedge 18 includes first and second inclined surfaces and a clamping surface 24. The second inclined surface of the wedge 18 is parallel to the driving surface of the driving block 19. The mounting further includes an abutment surface parallel to the first inclined surface of the wedge 18. Rotation of the threaded member 11 may move the driving member 19 along the guideway towards the abutment surface to urge the wedge 18 into the channel so that the wedge 18 can engage in use a panel located in the channel.
