Apparatus for aligning a frame within a building aperture
The apparatus or jig 10 for aligning a frame within a building aperture, such as for a door or a window, has two extendable arms 14,16 connected to opposing ends of a first elongate member 12, and a rack and pinion mechanism (40, Fig.2) positioned within the first member, which is operable to extend the arms laterally relative to the first member, and wherein a free end of each arm has a fixing point 26 to receive and secure a second detachable elongate member 11. The second member may be a spirit level. The first member may have at least two pivotally connected sections, and the rack and pinion mechanism may have a deformable region to allow the connected sections to fold. The rack and pinion may comprise opposed toothed gear racks, and each extendable arm may be telescopically extendable. Also disclosed is a frame aligning assembly using the apparatus.
