Improvements in or relating to a visible flexible facing layer
A flexible facing layer (10, Fig. 12) comprising a porous support substrate 18 and a plurality of spaced apart flexible wall-tile slips (26, Fig. 5) formed of aggregate attached to the substrate. Also claimed is a method of forming the layer 10 by applying a wet mixture 32 of powdered aggregate 34 having particulate matter and a binding agent, to the porous support substrate 18 using a control template 24 having a plurality of spaced apart wall tile shapes, to from a plurality of spaced apart wall tile slips 26 which permeate the porous substrate, curing the slips, preferably by flash heating (36, Fig.6) and hanging in curing station (38, Fig.7), and folding the flexible layer, preferably into a stack (10a, Figure 9) for storage and/or transportation. Also claimed is a method including the step of matching the colour of the wet mixture to that of an existing building brick. The binding agent may be polymeric allowing the layer to remain flexible when set so that it can be adhered to uneven underlying surface and/or folded around corners (See Fig. 16).
