A mechanism for actuating a door handle sanitizer spray 2 comprising a spring loaded folded material 5a positioned to extend around the line of the open edge of the door 6 (see figure 2). The material protrudes from the door edge when the door is open (not shown). When the door is closed, the door press mechanism 5a is forced flat by the door frame which pushes the mechanism 5a sideways, guided by the restraint guide plate 4, and causes the spray head activator 5b to depress the spray head 10 which is housed and positioned in a housing 9. The depressed spray head 10 sprays a short stream of sanitizer onto the door handle 7. The spray actuating member 5a, 5b preferably comprises a single component and is in constant contact with the spray head.
