A ground stabilising device 10 comprises a securing arrangement 14 and a load transmitting arrangement 12 on the securing arrangement 14 for transmitting load from the securing arrangement 14 to the ground. The securing arrangement 14 is configured for securing an elongate article 28 thereto. The load transmitting arrangement 12 comprises an outwardly extending member 18 on the securing arrangement 14. Said outwardly extending member 18 has a strand receiving formation 22 for receiving a strand 104 of a matting 102 engaged by the load transmitting arrangement 12.
