Pipe condition assessment device and system
A device 100 for assessing the condition of an isolated section 101 of a pipe network. The device comprises a plurality of components which are supported on a mobile chassis 102. The components include a source of water 104 external to the isolated section, a pump 106 in fluid communication with the source of water, a conduit 108 in fluid communication with the pump and connectable to the isolated section, a flow meter 110 in communication with the conduit and configured to record flow rates therein, a pressure sensor 112 in communication with the conduit and configured to record pressure therein, a data storage means 114 and a data transmitting means 116 for storing and transmitting flow and pressure data recorded by the flow meter and pressure sensor, respectively, and a controller 118 having a computer program configured to control the pump. The device enables a user to calculate one or more leakage characteristics from the measured flow and pressure data, the leakage exponent being indicative of the condition of the isolated section. Also disclosed is a computer program and methods of assessing isolated sections of pipes and valves.
