Defoaming compositions
A defoaming composition and a cement comprising such wherein the composition comprises one or more organic acid esters selected from an organic acid ester of polyethylene oxide, polypropylene oxide or a mixture thereof. The composition may further comprise an organic acid aster of an ethylene oxide propylene oxide block copolymer. The composition may further comprise a diluent, preferably an organic diluent. The organic acid ester may be the reaction product of the polymer and an organic acid with at least one carboxylic group. The organic acid may be oleic, steric, suberic, azelaic, sebacic, phthalic, isophthalic or terephthalic acids or any mixture thereof. The composition may further comprise a hydrophobic solid. The cement comprises hydraulic cement, water, and the defoaming composition. The cement may comprise calcium, aluminium, silicon, oxygen and/or sulphur, portland, pozzolana, gypsum, phosphate, slag or silica cements or cements high in alumina or alkalinity. Also included are methods for reducing air entrapment in cement compositions and cementing a subterranean formation using the cement and defoaming composition above where the defoaming composition may be 0.01 to 1 weight % of the hydraulic cement.
