Soft wrist restraint
A soft wrist restraint 10 includes a strap 16, preferably formed from a polyester webbing, having two free ends 12, (14, fig. 2) and rigid ring members 20, 22 through which the strap passes, to form into two loops 24, 26 which may be adjacent loops lying in a common plane. A two-part connector 36, 38 is located at or towards the free ends of the strap and there are tightening means 40, 64 for tightening the strap once a secured to a subjects wrists (fig. 5). The connector includes an at least two-point release mechanism which may be a side release buckle with a three-point release mechanism (52, 54, 56; fig. 2). One free end of the strap may pass over a web bar 40 on the connector and have a hook and loop arrangement (65, fig. 3) to retain it in a face-to-face relationship with a portion (66, fig. 3) adjacent the opposite end (see figure 4). The restraint is used to secure the wrists of a violent or uncooperative subject together to immobilise the subject while reducing risk of injury.
