Material bags (mn) releasably attached to the legs of a helicopter, providing a surface to allow the aircraft to land and take off from soft terrain such as mud. The bags are preferably hessian sacks, which cushion the legs of the helicopter. The material bag is attached to the leg sleeve (s) of the aircraft via hook (h), and the weight is held by magnets (m). A nose cone (n) protects the material bag arrangement from the air current when in flight. The bags provide a landing surface for the aircraft, and then can be removed from the legs and left in place on the ground when the aircraft takes off again from the soft surface. The hooks are removed from the helicopter legs, or the bag has zips (z) which are lowered, allowing removal of the bags from the helicopter.
