Improvements in or relating to surface coverings
The covering material comprises a layer of synthetic material and a sensor material 530 which detects change in an electrical property which is resistance and/or capacitance. The sensor layer may also include a mechanical property sensor 130, for example using piezoelectric material or a force sensing resistor. At least one sensor layer may include printable material. The sensor layer may comprise a number of sensors. The material may also include a protective layer. There may be included an aid (125 Figure 5) for deflection of the mechanical property sensor. The electrical property sensor may detect a change in capacitance, for example if water or water containing body, such as fruit (e.g. banana skin) is located on the floor as a potential hazard or where a person has fallen over.
