Spacer element for a double glazed article
The spacer element is made up of a frame section 20 for mounting in-between and spacing two sheet of glass, having opposed side surfaces 4 either side of a cavity for accommodating a lock or roller mechanism in between the glass sheets such that the glass can extend to the edge of the double glazed element. The glass may be secured via adhesive 6 and foam or rubber adhesive strips 14. The frame section may be attached at corners via L shaped connection pieces 16 located in connection cavities 48. Frames section may be formed of first and second aluminum portions (70, 72, Fig. 4) attached by plastic connection members (38, 58 Fig. 4), having a lower thermal conductivity than the frame portions. The frame section may include a flanges 62 for receiving hinges or weather seals. Also claimed is a kit of parts and a double glazed unit including the spacer.
