Systems and methods for door collision avoidance
A vehicle comprising a rotatable door with a door stop to arrest opening of the door, a rotatable handle with a haptic feedback assembly to vibrate the handle, the door configured to simultaneously activate the door stop and haptic feedback assemblies upon detection of an obstruction. The haptic feedback assembly may be disposed within the rotatable handle. Preferably the system can detect two different types of obstruction depending on the time to collision, in the case of a distant collision 616b the haptic motor is run at a lower level the door is not stopped, however for a more urgent collision 616d/616f the door handle is vibrated at a higher level and the door is stopped from opening. The door stop assembly may comprise a checkstrap, clutch and motor. A method of controlling a vehicle is also claimed.
