A support foundation for a structure comprises a base member 1 adapted for connection to the ground 4 or other substrate and a support member 2 coupled to the base member. The support member is adapted for connection to a structure supported by the support foundation, the support member being arranged to extend or retract relative to the base member. The base member comprises an upper section 8 and a lower section 9. The upper section comprises a first curved surface and the lower section comprises a second curved surface. The first curved surface is slidably coupled to the second curved surface such that the support member is arranged to rotate relative to the base member. The base member further comprises a locking means operable to lock the first and second curved surfaces together to resist sliding movement between them. A method of supporting a structure using the support foundation is also disclosed.
