The barrier 1 comprises one or more barrier members 3, a plurality of separate support members 2 which are adapted for ground engagement, at least one of which includes at least one barrier member. At least one coupling member 15 passes between support members and comprises two separate link portions 16 joined by a rigid joining portion, each link portion being coupled to a respective two coupled support members. The coupling member may be articulated where the rigid joining portion connect to the link portions and may have a substantially rigid body. The coupling member may comprise a rigid plate with through holes passing through a face to define link portions. Also discloses is a surface mounted vehicle barrier, a vehicle barrier apparatus that is mounted within the ground, a vehicle barrier apparatus that is used adjacent a kerb and a barrier used across a kerb.
