Method for mounting wall panels & wall panel system
Method for mounting wall panels to a surface, including providing a first wall panel (1A) having a profiled first edge (7A) and a first major outer surface (3A); providing a second wall panel (1B) having a profiled second edge (9B) and a second major outer surface (3B), wherein the profiled second edge (9B) is complementary to the profiled first edge (7A); and mounting the first and second wall panels (1A,1B) on to a surface such that the profiled first edge (7A) overlaps the profiled second edge (9B). The outer surfaces may have a decorative coating or layer formed on them. This coating or facing may extend to the profile edges so as to obscure the joint. A protective film may be provided. The panels may be thin, around 1 - 3 mm thick, and flexible. In fitting a first panel may be adhered to a substrate by strips or beads of tape or adhesive proximate to a first profiled edge, a second panel may be bent about an axis parallel to its profiled edge and slid into edge to edge engagement with the first panel before being bent back against the substrate and fixed by adhesive tape or beading. The system is especially useful in place of conventional tiling, such as in shower or wet rooms.
