Universal concrete slab edge assembly
The system for attaching fixtures to a building facade, such as balcony support stubs (5, Fig. 1) and brickwork support plates 8, includes a plurality of reinforcement bars 1 embedded in a concrete slab 3 of the building, a free end of each bar extending from the slab, a back plate 2 in the form a planar strip of material attached to the free ends of the bars and spaced form the slab, a fire and smoke stopping insulation material 4 located between the back plate and the slab and a cavity fire barrier 7 fitted to the back plate. The free ends of the bars may be threaded for receiving nuts 6 and washers for securing the back plate to the bars, and for securing fixtures to the back plate. The back plate may be welded to the bars. The insulation may be mineral or glass wool adhered to the back plate and may provide a thermal barrier between the back plate and building structure. The back plate may include intumescent material.
