The walkway installation comprises a pair of spaced apart supports 13 on which is at least one tread module 25. The walkway also includes a handrail assembly which extends in the direction of the length of the walkway upon a number of spaced apart posts. The handrail assembly 40 also comprises a connector 44 which secures a post 43 to one side of the assembly and the connector also secures a transverse link 45 which goes across the walkway perpendicular to the length direction of the walkway. The transverse link extends to a second connector on the other side of the walkway. The connectors may be connected to the supports.
