The fire break 3, particularly for rainscreen cladding, comprises a conduit, an actuator 32 and a blocking member 30 with a flow aperture 30a. The blocking member is movable between first and second conditions which respectively enable and inhibit a flow of air B through the conduit. The blocking member may be moved (e.g. slid) by the actuator, which may be a biasing means, a thermally expanding/contracting member, a mechanical actuator or a chemical compound. A barrier 33 may define the conduit, preferably by means of flow apertures 33d aligning with apertures and solid portions of the blocking member in the first and second conditions respectively. The blocking member may be located between two barrier members 33,34 of different materials. There may be a thermal insulation member and a member 31a which retains the blocking member in the first condition and releases it in response to a stimulus, e.g. by melting or deforming when heated. Also claimed are a kit of parts and a rainscreen cladding system comprising a fire break.
