An advertising device for use with an upright freestanding control box provided at an entrance / exit comprises a jacket 5 for mounting about the control box and which carries advertising material. The control box preferably controls a barrier 2 e.g. at an entrance to a cra park or office building. The jacket may be provided with at least one pocket 6, 7 for replaceable reception of a poster, the pocket having a viewing window to enable the poster to be seen. An opening in the pockets for insertion and removal of the posters may be accessible either from the inside or outside of the jacket. An advertising sleeve 30 may also be provided for attaching to an entrance /exit barrier.
