Vehicle door latch assembly
A vehicle door latch assembly comprising a handle 211 (lever 305, fig.3a) coupled to a latch 210 via a mechanical linkage 213 and a circuit 212 having a sensor (306, fig.3b) operating an electric actuator (402, fig.4a) providing electronic release. The sensor operates the electric actuator in response to a force in a first direction and the handle is movable in a second direction different to the first direction. The first and second directions may be orthogonal such that the handle may be pivoted downwards and the sensor may be actuated by pulling outwards on the door handle, the sensor may be located on the handle. The force to move the handle manually may be greater than the force to actuate the sensor. The handle may include a detent to retain the handle in a rest position. The sensor may be a button switch or capacitive touch-responsive sensor. The handle may be hidden from view behind a door panel.
