Improvements in or relating to hinges for use in window or door assemblies
A hinge comprising a first hinge member 12 with a pivot point extending behind a mounting portion 16 such that the pivot point 20 is inboard of a frame or wing to which it is mounted. A second hinge member 14 with an arcuate arm portion coupled to the pivot point 20. The hinge may comprise a plurality of hinge arms and may include a load transfer/thrust bearing 48. Rotational stop limits 50, 28b may be included on the hinge arms. Various mounting brackets may be provided along with reinforcement mounting plates. Preferably the hinge is mounted using a mounting plate having wider and narrowed slots allowing insertion of a hinge mounting plate after which it is vertically moved to secure it in plate, a mounting retention block being inserted afterwards (220, fig 5). Also claimed is a hinge attachment apparatus preferably whereby the hinge assembly is inserted through an mounting aperture and shifted vertically to prevent withdrawal.
