Safety tether for a hand-held article
A safety tether 100 to secure items such as tools to a support to prevent them from falling. The tether comprising a bag 102 made from wire mesh with a plurality of node joints 104 (preferably crimped), wherein the bag has an opening 106 for receiving an item and wherein a drawstring 120 is threaded through loops of the bag. A spring toggle 130 is located on the drawstring and is movable such as to open and close the bag. A leash 140 (or tether is secured to one end of the drawstring. Preferably, the leash is elastic, comprising an elastic strap core (142, figure 1c) and a pleated fabric sleeve (144, figure 1c). The leash may comprise a coil (242, figure 3a). The drawstring may be attached to the wire bag via a fastener (285, figure 3b). Preferably, the wire mesh is folded such as to form eyelets (272, figure 3b) for drawstring to thread through. There is also a method for using the tether.
