A method for refurbishing a wall having a pre-existing coating on its outer surface comprises the steps of: abrading the outer surface of the wall using a mechanical sanding process whilst carrying out dust extraction; applying a water-based plaster pre-mix composition to the abraded wall; applying a fire-resistant paint to the plastered wall; and, applying a fire-resistant anti-graffiti glaze coating to the painted wall. The wall may be present in the communal areas of office blocks, shared houses, hotels, hostels and the like. The abrasion may remove a thickness of 0.5-10mm from the original wall using an electrical sander. The plaster pre-mix may comprise filler, water, binder, thickener and calcium carbonate, and may be applied in a thickness of 0.5-10mm. One or more coats of primer paint followed by one or more coats of emulsion may be applied. Also claimed is a refurbished wall obtained by the above method.
