Security fitting for a window or door assembly
A security fitting for a window or door assembly having an espagnolette lock with at least one slidable projection 1 which engages a slot of a keep mounted to the frame, the security fitting 10 comprising a support portion for mounting to the wing and an engagement portion 14 extending therefrom an receivable within an engagement slot 40b/d of a keep mounted to the frame when the wing is lifted while locked to gain access (e.g. during a burglary). The engagement portion may be fitted to the edge of the wing or a faceplate of the lock mechanism or may fit into a groove on the edge of the wing. It may be pin shaped and a flanged edge for engaging with a flanged rim on the slot of the keep. Preferably a security fitting is located at the top and bottom of the wing 10 110 and engage with corresponding keeps at either end. Also claimed is a keep for engaging with a fixed centralising pin on the wing, the keep having an entrance and two opposed slots each with a flexible platform or cover ( 242a/b Figures 4b-d) which is deflected by the pin and creates a blocked position.
