Traversable road covering track
The system 100, particularly for deploying and recovering a roll of traversable road covering, is detachably couplable to a vehicle (e.g. a tractor) for power and transportation, and comprises an arcuate guide member 110 detachably couplable to a retaining element 120. The guide member and retaining element are arranged to contact the roll along a first and second arcuate range respectively, and are movable between a first position for deploying or recovering the roll as the host machine moves and a second position for retaining the roll. The guide member may comprise an arcuate array of rollers 112. The retaining element, which may have a second array of rollers 122, may be pivotably connected to the guide member. There may be an actuator 150 to initiate movement between the first and second positions. The retaining element may comprise a diameter-limiting member 160 with a biasing element or an actuator 161. Alternatively, the retaining element may comprise a strap which winds onto a drum. Also claimed are a host machine with the system mounted thereon, and a method using the system.
