A sash panel 14 is slidably mounted in an outer frame 12. Sash balances 22, 26 are attached between the vertical jambs 24, 28 of the outer frame 12 and the sides of the sash panel 14. The sash panel 14 has an electrically operable device that moves therewith. To allow electrical connection to the device from an external electrical controller or power source, the sash balances 22, 26 each have an electrically conductive part (36, 38, fig.3) that provides an electrical path between the outer frame 12 and the sash panel 14, and the sash panel 14 comprises electrical connections between the electrically conductive parts 36, 38 of the sash balances 22, 26 and the device. The electrical device may be an electrochromic structure on the glazing unit 20 switched from transparent to opaque, or may be an electrically operable shutter, blind, heating/demisting, lights, intruder alarm.
