A butt hinge comprising a first leaf 110 and a second leaf 120 pivotably attached to the first leaf and comprising at least three receiving apertures 150. Provided are a plurality of first concentric inserts 160 and a plurality of second eccentric or offset inserts 170. Each of the receiving apertures can receive either a first or a second insert which are rotatable in the aperture such that selection and rotation of the inserts provides adjustable attachment of the butt hinge. Preferably the first leaf also comprises at least three receiving apertures and configured to receive one of the first and second inserts. The apertures may be countersunk, and the inserts tapered in profile. The invention allows for the reusing of existing holes on a frame, or for adjusting an incorrectly hung door without re-drilling holes. Further provided is a method of attaching the hinge to a surface comprising a user selecting an eccentric or concentric insert for each receiving aperture.
