There is described a support clip (100) for attaching to an edge (14) of a construction board (16). The support clip (100) comprises a gripper (110) for holding the support clip (100) in abutment with the edge (14) of the board (16), and a cradle (102) for receiving a marking and alignment tool (10). The cradle (102) supports the marking and alignment tool (10) proximate to a surface (12) of the board (16) while the board is in an upright position. One clip can be used each side of the board to support a tool such as a spirit level extending across the face of the board between opposing edges. The clip may comprise a brake which allows for the clip to be fixed in position. The cradle may include means for vertical adjustment of the tool supported.
