Smart Lock
A smart lock for securing a door comprising a housing mountable on the door; an actuator, such as a motor 60, to actuate a lock mechanism and move the bolt 11, a receiver to wirelessly receive a signal to control operation of the actuator; one or more sensors mounted in or on the housing to generate a signal indicative of movement of the door or a component attached to the door, and a controller arranged to receive the signal and to control the actuator to actuate the lock mechanism in response to the movement signal. The sensors may be accelerometers, or a six axis inertial measurement unit. Also disclosed is a smart lock which can also be unlocked with a key or a handle; a method of retrofitting a rim lock with an actuator controlled by a receiver; a smart lock with a controller than can engage a key and lock mechanism in response to a user input; a smart lock which can be actuated by a handle, the handle being selectively engaged with the lock mechanism depending on a user input.
