Adjustable Hinge to Eliminate Shimming
A hinge for correctly aligning a door and doorframe, comprises a hinge pin 3, and a hinge plate (1, 5, fig. 3) with apertures (2, fig. 2) to receive fastener screws and additional apertures (4, fig. 2) to house screw heads beneath the hinge plate. These additional screws 9 housed beneath the hinge plate can be altered in depth from the face side of the hinge plate/leaf, using an appropriate tool. This alters the spacing between the rear face of the hinge plate and the door, or frame, which in turn alters the spacing between the door and door frame. The apertures (2, fig. 2) define a clear aperture bore with a front annular shoulder defining a chamfer, and the additional apertures (4, fig. 2) define a clear aperture bore with a rear annular shoulder defining a chamfer. At least one of the apertures can be elongated.
