Fluid containment apparatus
A fluid fillable flood barrier 1 formed from a fluid impermeable material forming an elongate member 10 when filled, comprising a ground engaging portion 2 and an upper portion 3 sealingly joined along the peripheral edges 31 of the upper portion, the upper portion forming a parabolic arch 32 when filled. The sac or bag forming the member 10 may have an inlet 12 at the apex of the arch, and an outlet 13. The barrier may include ground engaging side flaps 23 extending beyond the peripheral edges. The upper portion may be glued, bonded, stitched or welded to the lower portion. The parabolic arch shape provides an inclined surface to the pressure of flood water, with pressure minimum towards the apex and maximum towards the base. The floor barrier is for temporary deployment, formed from a resilient fluid impermeable elastomer or plastomers. Adjacent barriers may be sealing joined using bridging strips 50 attached to fasteners 34. In use minimal ground surface preparation is required. The bridging strips are also claimed.
