A device 200 for measuring reflectivity comprises a camera 204, a light source 202 arranged to illuminate an object O to be imaged by the camera, a transparent cover 206 arranged in front of both camera and light source and a barrier 210 between the light source and the camera and in contact with the transparent cover and arranged to inhibit the direct transmission L2, L3 of light between the light source and the camera. The transparent cover may comprise a pair of plates 206a, 206b adjacent the light source and camera respectively with the barrier positioned therebetween. In use the device is especially suited for attachment to a vehicle such that it may monitor a road to determine the reflectivity of elements on said road.
