The hook abuts against the catch arm in a locked position to prevent the door opening fully and is movable to an unlocking position wherein the hook no longer abuts the catch arm and the door may be fully opened. Remotely actuatable automatic release means is provided to move the latching arm when actuated by a user. The release means may include a release arm 20 driven by a motor. The latch assembly 5 may include a control means for the motor in the form of a Bluetooth (RTM) receiver paired with a smart device. An app may be provided to control a group of locks. The lock may be unlocked by a magnetic key.
