The latch apparatus 400 comprises a sealing bead 426 (e.g. comprising expanded material) with a variable cross-sectional area, extending around a portion of a housing 422, the portion comprising a latch throat 424 to receive a striker 300. In use, the sealing bead creates a seal between a door cavity and the latch throat, passing above the latch throat to divert descending liquid around the latch throat. The sealing bead may define an open shape, e.g. defining a drainage gap 454 between lower ends 450,452, optionally extending along a first edge 428 of the housing, over a vertex 434 (whereat the sealing bead may be locally thickened) and along a second edge 430. The housing may comprise a reinforcing portion, e.g. a metallic plate 444 with a slot aligned with the latch throat. Optionally, the housing may comprise one or more openings 456 for mechanisms (e.g. Bowden cables) linking the apparatus to actuators, with further sealing beads around the openings.
