Ground drainage apparatus and method of installation thereof
A ground drainage apparatus for draining soils, e.g. to reduce pore water pressure behind retaining walls or within clay slopes, includes a ground anchor 100; a length of conduit providing a drainage channel for water; and a socket 117 for locating a rod for driving the ground anchor into the earth. The conduit is secured to the anchor, possibly by a clamp, directly engaging the anchor. When the anchor is driven into the ground, the conduit is dragged through the passage or channel formed by the anchor. The socket may be a blind bore. The anchor may have a tapered front end 118. The securing means may be located so that the conduit is secured within the outer profile of the anchor. The clamp may include grooves or ridges that are complementary with grooves or ridges on the surface of the anchor.
