Antenna support system
An antenna support system has a mast which comprises a first structural mast member 102, which has a structural portion 120, for bearing at least part of the mast load when in use, and a mounting portion 122, for attachment of an antenna steering unit. An antenna is mounted to the steering unit. The steering unit provides rotational movement of the antenna relative to the mast. An antenna may be mounted by two steering units to the mast. The mast may be a hollow structure formed by being extruded along its primary axis. The mast may have various cross-sectional shapes. such as circular, box, polygonal, L or T, with various flange or projecting mounting portions. The antenna support system may include attachment holes and it may be used in the construction of a cellular communication system. Also disclosed is a cellular antenna mast member and its method of manufacture, comprising: a mast with a load bearing portion and an antenna mounting portion, where the load bearing portion is formed by extrusion.
