Joints for reinforcing elements in precast concrete constructions
A connector block (10) has a back section (34) connected to an end of a reinforcing bar (6) or a structural component such as a beam. The block has a slotted front section with an internal troughed bearing face. On site, the connector blocks of adjacent members (20) are joined by inserting a fastener bar (12) carrying a pair of anchoring blocks (14) each associated with a fastener (54). The anchoring blocks have bearing faces which cooperate with the troughed bearing face of the connector block to enable the transmission of tensile forces between adjoining members. A single connector block can alternatively be used with a threaded end of a reinforcing bar in place of the fastener bar.
