Fire door release mechanism
An electromechanical releasable door locking device comprising a door mountable housing with a locking mechanism having a locking arm which may be a foot operable rod 28 movable between an in-operative retracted position and an active position in which it extends from the housing and may locate in a hole in a floor plate. The floor engaging rod 28 is preferably retained in position by a tilting friction plate 34. The housing including a release mechanism comprising a lever 60 movable by a solenoid 50 from a rest position in which the locking arm 28 is normally retained in position, e.g. by friction plate 34, and a release position to release the locking arm, e.g. by disengaging friction plate 34; a resilient member such as spring 36, returns the friction plate and lever 60 to rest position, a connecting arm 32 may couple lever 60 to friction plate 34. The solenoid is operable remotely by trigger signal such as fire alarm, received by a receiver. The releasable door locking device may be one of a plurality of slave units controlled by a master unit and configured to switch to a failsafe mode upon interruption of master unit.
