A window shutter is disclosed which has; a frame, a series of louvres 20 each pivotably mounted on first and second side members, and a control mechanism for simultaneously rotating each louvre. Each louvre is connected to the control mechanism 38, 48 by a pivot pin 28 and peg. The control mechanism comprises: a mounting 38 for each pivot pin that is fixed with respect to the first side member; an elongate, moveable rack 48 located within the first side member having a slot or groove for engagement with each peg, where each slot includes first and second sections angled with respect to each other; and an operating shaft 40, 42 that engages with the rack and causes the rack to move with respect to the first side member so a peg engaged in the slot slides along the slot and pivots the louvre about the pivot pin. The pin and peg may be connected to an end fitting which fits inside each louver. The first section of each slot may be at right angles to the direction of movement and the second section extends at an angle of less than 90 degrees to the first.
