Powered road traffic management stop-go sign system
A temporary traffic management stop-go sign system includes a portable control unit 9. A sign 18 is supported on a stand 4 comprising a battery (Fig.2,23), motor (Fig.2,19), stand controller (Fig.2,20) and transceiver (Fig.2,21). The motor adjusts the sign to display a ‘stop’ or ‘go’ instruction. The portable control unit has an interface (Fig.3,31), transceiver (Fig.3,29), processor (Fig.3,28) and power supply (Fig.3,30). It wirelessly instructs the stand controller to switch sign states and can also receive reports from it. The control unit can be paired with multiple stands, each having a unique identification code for communications. It can operate manually or automatically. The stand may include a sensor for sensing a state of the sign, which may be reported to the control unit and an alert issued if it does not match the last command sent. The control unit may periodically poll each stand and issue an alert if communication fails. The system may include a camera or infra-red imaging device for sensing an approaching vehicle and control the state of the sign accordingly.
