Locking mechanism with anti-rotation
A locking device comprises a shackle 2 having a body portion and legs 4 extending therefrom with distal ends each having a foot portion 8; a tubular housing having an internal cavity and spaced first and second openings 22 on either side thereof to receive the foot and a mechanism for locking the foot portions in a hold position. Each foot has an anti-rotation portion of non-circular cross section, and a body within the housing cavity has an opening of matching non- circular cross section for receiving the anti-rotation portion of a foot portion in the shackle hold position. Each foot has a tip portion which passes through the body and out of the second openings on the opposite side of the body to the shackle. The locking mechanism may engage with a groove extending laterally in the foot portion of the leg. The body may be a plate which is preferably secured the tubular housing wall and engages with the anti-rotation portion which is located between the tip and locking groove. The anti-rotation portion may have a cross section wholly within the cross section of the rest of the foot portion.
