Protecting wooden objects from termite attack
A method of protecting wooden objects from termite attack, the method comprising applying a termite resistant material to a wooden object, providing a compressible termite resistant material sandwiched between the termite resistant material and the wooden object, and fixing the termite resistant material to the wooden object. The termite resistant material may be a metal, plastic or mesh sheet. The termite resistant material has fixing holes. The compressible termite resistant material may be comprised of fibrous material, or predominantly from basalt, glass or metal fibre or a combination of two or more of these materials. The compressible termite resistant material is coated in a termiticide, with the termite resistant material being fixed to the wooden object using nails or screws to force the compressible layer into intimate contact with the wooden object.
