Tying apparatus
An apparatus for tying rebar comprises means 115, 105, 310 for feeding one or more loops of wire 110 around a rebar node 315. It includes a fixed carrier frame (515, Fig 5) and a twisting head 125 housed in the fixed carrier frame. It includes means for controlling translation of the twisting head along its longitudinal axis (see carrier housing 510,Fig 5; ratchet mechanism 705,710, Fig 7A-D; threaded shaft 505, Fig 5; motor, 520, Fig 5). The apparatus also includes a means for controlling axial rotation of the twisting head (see motor, 520, Fig 5). A gripping means (fingers 620’, 620’’, Fig 6A) is provided on one end of the twisting head and is configured to grip the loop(s) of wire. The apparatus includes a microcontroller configured to initiate the means for controlling translation and the means for controlling axial rotation of the twisting head, such that when the gripping means grip the loop(s) the twisting head translates into the fixed carrier frame away from the loop(s) and rotates axially in order to pull and twist the loop(s) thereby tying the rebar
