A concrete reinforcement member 101 for making reinforced concrete. The member has a four-sided, tubular, helical configuration with n number of 360 degree turns, each turn having a first W1 and second W2 width. When viewed in a direction along a main central length axis, it has the form of a rectangle or a square. It has a compacted state L1, where it is compacted along its main axis, and is capable of being expanded L2 in a direction along its main length axis. When in an expanded form the pitch p between successive tums of the helical member is in the ratio p = 1.0 to 10 of the pitch p when it is fully compacted. A reinforced concrete structure 100, with elongate rods or bars 102-105 connected to the helical member, at least at the first turn, is defined. A method of making the structure and the reinforcing, and a method of manufacturing the helical coil are also claimed.
