Air source heat pump
An air source heat pump 601 comprises an evaporator 603 configured to absorb heat from an ambient environment, wherein the evaporator is suitable for coupling to an outlet 604 from a building ventilation system, and whereby in use air discharged from the building is directed across or through the evaporator. The heat pump may be associated with an entrance shelter (401, fig 4) proximal an entrance (door 104) to the building with the shelter housing or supporting the evaporator. The shelter may comprise a filter (503, fig 5) to filter air drawn into the building through an inlet (502). The evaporator may form part or whole of an exterior weatherproof surface (roof 403) of the shelter and provides shelter or shade overhead of a person located outside the building. A fan may be used to direct the air across or through the evaporator. The air may be discharged from the building via a sensor controlled valve (505) either as an air curtain (506) or to the evaporator (504). A method of operating an air source heat pump is also disclosed.
