Reduced-friction latch bolt
A latch assembly comprising a strike plate 26 having a coating 38 of a first material and a latch member 22 with a coating having a second material, the second material being different than the first material. The coatings are preferably different plastics such as strike plate coated with nylon and the latch coated with PTFE. Also claimed is a latch assembly with a debris removal member 40 to remove dirt from the active surface of the latch bolt 22. The debris removal may include a lubricant. The debris removal member could be a brush with bristles. The debris removal member may be positioned on the strike member.
