Spout assembly
A spout assembly 10 or faucet for dispensing water from a plumbing fixture, having an inner conduit 12 connectable to a water supply, and a water outlet 16 provided at a distal end of the inner conduit 12. A shroud 20 is disposed around, and spaced from, at least the distal end of the inner conduit 12. The shroud 20 is provided with an aperture 26 alignable with the water outlet 16. The spout assembly may be provided as part of e.g. a clinical washbasin or sink. A method of attaching the spout assembly 10 to a mounting surface of a plumbing fixture, includes the step of rotating the shroud 20 about a longitudinal axis thereof to align its aperture 26 with the water outlet 16 of the inner conduit 12. The spout assembly 10 of the present invention may have medical or healthcare use to avoid retrograde contamination from fluid splashing back onto or into water conduit 12, and/or transfer of pathogens, microorganism, bacteria etc from a user hands.
